Job Description

Job Overview Join our team as a fleet diesel mechanic working for a small family operated company. Help us maintain our school buses as we aim to serve the community as we have since 1932 and uphold the highest standards possible for those we serve. Duties Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on school buses. Troubleshoot mechanical systems using schematics, automotive electrical system repair techniques, and diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately. Conduct repairs Fabricate parts or modify equipment as needed using welding and power tools to meet operational specifications. Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with safety standards and guidelines. Assist with heavy lifting tasks, tire service, alignment procedures, and HVAC system repairs to support diverse operational needs. Skills Proven experience working on international and freightliner platforms or extensive truck/bus repair background demonstrating strong mechanical knowledge. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, electrical systems repair, hydraulics, and diesel engine repair. Skilled in using schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues across various machinery types. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices such as brake repair, suspension alignment, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, and HVAC systems. Strong soft skills including punctuality, communication, work ethic, and team based work environments. Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks along with excellent attention to detail in maintenance procedures. Other skills including building maintenance and other hands on knowledge are a big plus but not necessary.
Other:
Candidates within a 20-30 minute radius of Parkton MD preferred for on call and after hours road call situations. CDL B is a plus but not required This role is ideal for an experienced, motivated, diesel mechanic looking to work in a small family run company environment with an intrinsic drive to help us collectively improve as a company and community service. Pay:
$32.00 - $40.00 per hour
