Summary:

Responsible for inspecting trucks, trailers & various machines to ensure that they are mechanically sound and operating in a safe efficient manner. Performs on-site inspections of vehicles & mechanical systems and takes the appropriate steps to repair/improve machine.

Primary responsibilities:

Determines the most cost-effective repair solutions to maximize equipment life. Tracks repairs and modifications, maintaining warranty knowledge to minimize future repairs. Prepare inspection reports, verify extent of damages and make appropriate repairs. Maintains clean and organized shop in order to maximize productivity and promote workplace safety.

Reviewing daily:

AM & PM, drivers inspections sheets for issues with each vehicle Fixing vehicles in the most time management and cost effect way, prioritizing always Inspect vehicles & various machines to ensure they are up to code and in good working order. Uses daily plan to prioritize and control parts spending and makes sound choices on vendors Investigate code and or law compliance complaints from drivers or MDOT and resolve or refers complaints or problem to appropriate staff. Inspect all facets of the vehicle including tanks, fittings, hoses, filters and pipelines. Examine instrumentation, valves, and fittings for defects, such as cracks, corrosion, and leaks. Inspect materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications. Check heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Inspect hauling, towing and hydraulic equipment. Interpret all mechanical drawings and their change documentation. Use route sheets, truck inspection sheets and daily schedule to prioritize needs.. Interpret codes, laws and ordinance requirements as it pertains to truck and container repairs. Visit sites to perform inspections/repairs if necessary. Discuss disapproved or challenged repairs with direct supervisor or owner to obtain plan changes necessary to complete work.

Skills/Requirements:

Must be able to bend, turn, kneel or stand for long periods of time and lift at least 75 lbs. Must be able to function well in a physically demanding environment. Must excel in and promote a team environment. Must have and promote an upbeat and positive outlook. Must be punctual, dedicated and reliable.
