We are looking for a dependable Truck & Trailer Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team on second shift. Overview Afternoon 2nd shift: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM This is a general maintenance/mechanic position for someone who is ready to do more than basic oil changes and PM services . The ideal candidate is a mechanically skilled technician who can perform routine maintenance and common repairs on Class 8 trucks and commercial trailers. You should be comfortable working on components such as brakes, wheel-end components, suspension, air systems, tires, trailer systems, and basic electrical components , while being willing to continue developing your heavy-duty diesel skills. This is a great opportunity for a technician who wants to build a long-term career in heavy-duty fleet maintenance and work alongside experienced technicians on a large commercial fleet. Our fleet consists primarily of Freightliner tractors , providing exposure to Detroit Diesel and Cummins-powered equipment. Knowledge of Freightliner products is a bonus. Responsibilities Perform scheduled PM services and DOT inspections on commercial trucks and trailers Inspect and diagnose basic mechanical and electrical problems to determine appropriate repairs Repair and service truck and trailer brakes, wheel-end, suspension, air, electrical, and ABS systems Perform tire changes Utilize diagnostic software and service information systems when necessary Respond to roadside service calls and breakdowns as needed to diagnose issues, perform minor repairs, and assist drivers with safely returning equipment to service Complete maintenance records and inspection reports accurately Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Communicate repair recommendations and equipment conditions clearly with management What We're Looking For 1-2 years of experience in heavy-duty truck, trailer, automotive, equipment, or general mechanical maintenance preferred Experience performing PM services and/or DOT inspections is a plus Ability to perform common mechanical repairs with limited supervision Basic understanding of truck and trailer brakes, suspension, air, electrical, and wheel-end systems Technician must provide their own personal hand tools and toolbox necessary to perform the job Applicants are expected to have a complete set of tools appropriate for heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Ability to identify problems, communicate findings, and follow repair procedures Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic Must be able to work independently and efficiently Ability to work safely and maintain a clean and organized work area Knowledge or experience with Freightliner products is a bonus Valid driver's license required CDL-A license is a plus, but not required Physical Requirements Ability to lift and handle heavy parts and equipment Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work underneath vehicles for extended periods Ability to work in a shop environment and around heavy equipment Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifts, and other shop equipment What We Offer Full-time, stable employment Afternoon shift: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM Competitive pay based on experience Opportunities for overtime Consistent fleet maintenance work Opportunity to develop your heavy-duty diesel repair skills Supportive shop environment If you're an experienced mechanic looking to build your career in heavy-duty fleet maintenance and take pride in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and on the road, we'd like to hear from you.
