Job Description

OGEMAW COUNTY TRANSIT MECHANIC - FULL-TIME POSITION
Ogemaw County Transit is accepting applications for a Full-Time Mechanic to perform maintenance and repair work on the County Transit fleet and related equipment. Position Responsibilities The Mechanic will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to: Performing routine preventative maintenance on transit vehicles. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical problems. Performing brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust, and other vehicle repairs. Conducting oil changes, tire rotations, tire replacement, and other scheduled maintenance. Completing required vehicle inspections and identifying safety concerns. Maintaining accurate maintenance, repair, and inspection records. Monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules and assisting with fleet readiness. Maintaining tools, equipment, parts, and the maintenance work area. Coordinating outside repairs when necessary. Assisting with emergency or unscheduled vehicle repairs. Ensuring vehicles comply with applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Performing other duties as assigned by the Transit Director.
Minimum Qualifications Applicants should possess:
Experience in automotive, diesel, fleet, heavy-duty, or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair. Knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs safely and efficiently. Ability to operate automotive diagnostic and repair equipment. A valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain any required CDL or other certifications within a timeframe established by Ogemaw County Transit. Ability to meet the physical requirements associated with vehicle maintenance and repair work. ASE certification and previous experience maintaining buses, commercial vehicles, or public transit fleets are preferred.

In accordance with the applicable Ogemaw County wage schedule and/or collective bargaining agreement. Grade Level 8, ranging from $24.71 to $31.56 an hour.

$24.71 - $31.56 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
