Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Heavy Truck/Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet and machinery operating smoothly, supporting our operational goals with precision and efficiency. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy trucks, including diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment, shocks & struts, and preventive inspections to maximize equipment lifespan. Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding, cutting, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs. Operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to support maintenance tasks or move equipment safely. Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems on farm machinery, industrial equipment, and heavy trucks ensuring compliance with safety standards. Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues accurately and efficiently restore vehicles to optimal working condition. Maintain detailed service records, repair logs, and parts inventory to ensure accountability and streamline workflow. Requirements Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy truck and equipment repair. Strong mechanical knowledge of Caterpillar machinery, diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and automotive electrical systems. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and assembly of mechanical components. Experience working with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and hydraulic systems troubleshooting. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts safely and efficiently. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures for truck drivers' fleet vehicles or similar heavy-duty transportation assets. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions; willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
