Job Description

The City of Otsego is seeking an independent self-starter and accredited full-time Mechanic to join our Streets/Fleet Department. This position is responsible for tasks such as performing routine to skilled maintenance of the City's fleet vehicles and equipment, performing inspections, maintaining software and vehicle databases, monitoring inventories, implementing safety protocols, and collaborating with all departments for equipment-related purchases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Experience in the repair of small engine and heavy/diesel equipment 2. DOT Certified (ex: Commercial Vehicle Inspection, etc.) 3. ASE Certified (ex: A Series, T Series, etc.) 4. Valid Class B driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Valid Class A driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements - or the ability to obtain within 6 months 2. Fleet Maintenance/Management software experience 3. Two-year certificate of completion from a technical or vocational school with specialized training in mechanics, maintenance management or related field. 4. Experience working for a growing city or county
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Hours are typically Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday 7:00 am to 11:00 am. In addition to operating hours, staff may be required to work additional hours, as needed.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The position has an hourly range of $34.25 to $43.84, based on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is also available including medical, dental, life insurance, disability insurance, paid holidays off, personal time-off, and participation in the Public Employees' Retirement Association.
