Heavy Equipment Lube Technician Position Summary The Heavy Equipment Lube Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance services on heavy construction, mining, and earthmoving equipment. This position ensures equipment reliability by completing lubrication services, fluid changes, inspections, and basic maintenance tasks while identifying potential mechanical issues before they result in equipment downtime. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine lubrication of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, and other fleet equipment. Change engine oil, hydraulic fluids, transmission fluids, coolant, and filters according to maintenance schedules. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and document equipment condition. Inspect equipment for leaks, wear, damage, and safety concerns. Check fluid levels, tire conditions, battery systems, belts, hoses, and undercarriage components. Report maintenance needs and repair recommendations to supervisors and mechanics. Maintain accurate service records and maintenance logs. Operate service trucks and lubrication equipment safely. Keep work areas, tools, and service vehicles clean and organized. Follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Assist mechanics with minor repairs and maintenance projects as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience working with heavy equipment, diesel engines, or fleet maintenance preferred. Knowledge of lubrication systems, fluids, filters, and preventive maintenance procedures. Ability to read and understand equipment service manuals and maintenance schedules. Valid driver's license required; CDL Required, Tanker and Hazmat endorsement required Ability to operate service trucks and mobile lubrication equipment. Basic computer and recordkeeping skills. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to climb, kneel, bend, squat, and work in confined spaces. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Work Environment Construction sites, quarries, mines, equipment yards, and field locations. Exposure to dust, mud, grease, noise, and extreme temperatures. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs. Preferred Skills Preventive maintenance experience. Diesel equipment knowledge. Welding or fabrication experience (a plus). Strong attention to detail and safety awareness. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
