POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Head Mechanic
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Properly licensed to operate vehicle. Demonstrates aptitude and competence for automotive, tractor, turf equipment repair, welding and mechanical problem solving. Experience as a vehicle mechanic, including work experience on heavy trucks (gasoline and diesel). Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or willingness to obtain certification. Must have excellent communication skills, be team oriented; neat in appearance, dependable, and punctual; helpful and pleasant in dealing with people. Valid Mississippi Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.

Transportation Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve-month (240 days). Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates all District equipment in a safe manner. Inspect and service buses in accordance with state requirements. Perform trouble shooting and repair of all vehicles and equipment components. Perform road testing of all vehicles to determine road worthiness and/or required repairs. Sets up and supervises a system for the receipt and issuance of parts and supplies, keeping records and inventories. Maintains safe and clean work environment, including acceptable storage methods for combustibles.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work overtime as required by supervisor or district administration. Attends meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration. Respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff. Functions as a team player, works on other duties as assigned. Dress and grooming should be appropriate, with proper uniform and name badge. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
