About the Opportunity A well-established, locally owned automotive shop in Jacksonville, NC is looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Technician to join the team. This shop has built a strong reputation in the community for quality work, honesty, and a positive work environment. You'll work directly with the owner in a small, tight-knit shop with a great culture , where skilled technicians are trusted to take ownership of their work. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technician who can work independently , diagnose complex mechanical issues, and perform major repairs including engine and transmission rebuilds and swaps . The right candidate will be someone who takes pride in their craft and does not require constant supervision or training. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of vehicles Conduct engine rebuilds, engine replacements, and engine swaps Perform transmission rebuilds, replacements, and repairs Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engine systems Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship Maintain accurate documentation of work performed Communicate clearly with the shop owner regarding diagnostics and repair plans Maintain a clean and organized work area Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards Qualifications 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience preferred Strong experience with engine and transmission overhauls and swaps Proven experience working on both gasoline and diesel vehicles Ability to diagnose and solve complex mechanical problems Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision Strong work ethic and attention to detail Own tools required ASE certifications are a plus but not required with strong experience Valid driver's license What Makes This Opportunity Different Work directly with the shop owner Great shop culture and team environment Independence and trust in your work Consistent, steady workflow Opportunity to work on challenging mechanical projects , not just basic service work If you are a highly skilled technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems and takes pride in doing the job right , this is an opportunity to join a shop where your experience and independence will be valued.
