Performs intermediate semiskilled work repairing or replacing tires on vehicles and large equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. Repairs, replaces, and maintains tires and tubes. Ensures tires are recapped as needed. Conducts emergency tire repairs on equipment at job sites. Assists mechanics with repairs. Maintains tools in proper working order. Maintains clean and safe working area. Performs other related tasks as needed. Performs other assigned duties. General knowledge of hand tools, equipment and techniques used in the service and repair of tires and automotive equipment. Some knowledge of shop tools and machinery. Ability to detect by inspection any worn or broken automotive parts. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, and others. High school diploma or equivalent. One to three (1-3) years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Valid driver's license.
