European Automotive Technician — Mercedes-Benz / BMW / Audi / VW Chris Matthews Automotive — Southport, NC Full-Time | Monday-Friday $30-$45+ per hour based on experience, skill level and production Who We Are Chris Matthews Automotive is an independent, high-volume automotive repair shop in Southport, North Carolina. We are not trying to be the cheapest shop in town, and we are not trying to push as many cars through the building as possible with the bare minimum repair. Who We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced European Automotive Technician who can become an important part of our growing Euro department. The ideal technician has experience with Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and/or Volkswagen and is comfortable with modern European vehicle systems. You do not have to know everything. You DO need to know how to think. We want someone who can diagnose a vehicle logically, use service information, interpret scan data and test systems instead of simply replacing parts until the problem disappears. You should be comfortable performing both diagnostic work and general mechanical repairs. Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Diagnosing European mechanical and electrical concerns Performing maintenance and repair on Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen and other vehicles Using scan tools, service information and diagnostic equipment Completing thorough Digital Vehicle Inspections Documenting findings clearly with pictures, videos and technician notes Identifying safety, maintenance and future repair needs Performing repairs accurately and efficiently Verifying repairs before the vehicle leaves your bay Communicating with service advisors when additional testing or repairs are needed Maintaining a clean and professional work area Continuing technical training as vehicle technology changes

What We're Looking For Required:

Professional automotive repair experience Strong mechanical ability Diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting ability Ability to use modern scan tools and service information Own professional automotive tools Valid driver's license Strong attendance and reliability Attention to detail Willingness to complete thorough vehicle inspections Ability to work as part of a team

Preferred:

Mercedes-Benz experience BMW experience Audi/VW experience Independent European repair shop experience ASE certifications Manufacturer training or certifications NC State Inspection license Independent-shop experience is especially valuable to us because our technicians work on a wide variety of systems and need to be comfortable thinking independently. Compensation $35-$45+ per hour depending on experience, diagnostic ability, certifications and production capability. We are looking for an experienced technician and are willing to pay accordingly for the right person. Our goal isn't to hire the cheapest technician.
