Shop Supervisor Job Summary:

The Trailer Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing trailers and associated equipment. This includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring all components meet safety standards and comply with DOT regulations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with trailers or heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection & Diagnostics Conduct routine inspections on trailers, focusing on brakes, lights, electrical systems, hydraulics, structural components, and tires. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with trailer systems and components. Maintenance & Repair Perform repairs and replacements for faulty components, including brakes, axles, suspensions, lighting, and wiring. Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed to repair or reinforce trailer structures. Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to prolong the lifespan of trailer equipment. Documentation Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and labor hours for each trailer serviced. Complete required documentation to comply with company standards and DOT regulations. Compliance & Safety Ensure all repairs meet DOT and FMCSA safety standards. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures during repairs. Collaboration Work closely with other technicians, fleet managers, and supervisors to ensure timely repair and maintenance of trailers. Communicate effectively regarding repair status and parts requirements.

Qualifications:

Education :

High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in vehicle or equipment repair is preferred.

Experience :

2+ years of experience as a Trailer Technician, mechanic, or similar role. Knowledge of trailer components and systems.

Skills :

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency with tools used in trailer repair (hand tools, power tools, welding equipment). Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, diagrams, and blueprints.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment, up to 75 lbs. Willingness to work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, noisy areas). Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.

Schedule :

4/10 Schedule-Monday thru Thursday 7 am to 530 pm (Weekends Off)

Compensation :

20.00 to 25.00 per hour depending on experience
