This role will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing our company fleet vehicles and construction equipment, including interior electric scissor lifts, exterior all-terrain scissor lifts, fleet vehicles and other job site equipment . Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Vehicle Maintenance & Repair:
Diagnose, service, and repair company trucks, vans, trailers, and other fleet vehicles to ensure they remain safe and operational.
Construction Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and repair interior electric scissor lifts, exterior all-terrain scissor lifts, and other construction equipment used by our field crews.
Mechanical Diagnostics:
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment-related issues and determine the appropriate repair or maintenance solution.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, fluid changes, brake service, belt and hose replacement, lubrication, and other routine maintenance.
Hydraulic Systems:
Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, cylinders, hoses, pumps, valves, and related components on lifts and other equipment.
Electrical Systems:
Troubleshoot electrical systems, batteries, charging systems, wiring, controls, sensors, and other electrical components.
Engine & Drivetrain:
Service and repair gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, cooling systems, fuel systems, and related components as required.
Equipment Inspections:
Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential problems before they result in breakdowns or job site downtime.
Emergency Repairs:
Respond to equipment and vehicle breakdowns when necessary and coordinate repairs to minimize interruptions to field operations.
Parts & Inventory:
Identify required parts, maintain appropriate maintenance inventory, and coordinate with vendors or suppliers to obtain parts and materials.
Maintenance Records:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, parts, and service performed on company vehicles and equipment.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained in accordance with applicable DOT, OSHA, manufacturer, and company safety requirements .
Shop & Work Area:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe mechanical shop and work area.
General Repairs:
Perform welding, fabrication, and other mechanical repairs as needed, depending on experience and capability.
Qualifications:
5+ years of professional mechanic experience , preferably with experience servicing commercial vehicles, construction equipment, or heavy equipment. Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems . Experience diagnosing and repairing fleet vehicles, trucks, trailers, and construction equipment . Experience working on scissor lifts, aerial equipment, or similar access equipment is strongly preferred. Ability to troubleshoot problems using diagnostic tools, service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation . Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling, fuel, and electrical systems . Ability to perform preventative maintenance and accurately identify potential equipment failures. Strong understanding of workplace, equipment, and vehicle safety requirements . Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and manage multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safe, reliable, and properly functioning equipment . Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment and perform the physical requirements associated with mechanical work. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. CDL and/or relevant equipment certifications are a plus . ASE, OSHA, Genie, JLG, or other relevant certifications are a plus. Why Join Avon Contractors?
