AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC I

Required Application Type School Related Personnel Salary/Pay Scale $61,173 Job Description Bethlehem Central School District is currently seeking applications for two (2) Automotive Mechanics, effective October 5, 2026. The vacancies are available in the Transportation Department located at 82 VanDyke Road, Delmar. Starting salary is $61,173. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Servicing of bus fleet and maintaining heavy automotive and diesel equipment; Air brakes. Body work, up to and including painting, welding, metal fabrication, Electronic Computer Diagnostics, Checks air in tires, adjusts pressure, changes and repairs tires. Repairs or replaces fuel pumps, generators, alternators and starters. Possess thorough knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and terminology. Civil Service Title

AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC I

Job Qualifications One (1) year of experience as a skilled automotive repair person. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Class B license with a P and S endorsement, issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, within six (6) months after appointment.
