Job Summary We are seeking a motivated Shop Trailer Mechanic I to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will perform essential repairs and maintenance on trailers, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your mechanical skills while working in a fast-paced environment that values your expertise and dedication. Duties Conduct routine inspections and repairs on trailers, including brakes, suspensions, axles, and lighting systems. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to perform fabrication, assembly, and equipment repair tasks. Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and technical manuals. Perform heavy lifting and tire service to support fleet readiness. Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used; ensure compliance with safety standards. Assist with hydraulic system repairs, air brake adjustments, and alignment procedures for trailers and heavy machinery. Support the team with general shop duties such as cleaning work areas and preparing parts for service. Skills Proven dealership or heavy equipment mechanic experience with a strong mechanical knowledge base. Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and using various hand tools and power tools. Familiarity with excavator, crane, forklift operation, and other industrial equipment. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar or similar machinery. Knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, shocks & struts. Experience with automotive repair including brake repair, wheel alignment, tire service, electrical troubleshooting, and vehicle maintenance. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients. Capable of heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs. Pay:
$18.17 - $22.74 per hour
