Job Description

An Automotive Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicles using diagnostic equipment and mechanical skills to resolve issues with engines, electrical systems, and other components. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance like oil changes, executing complex repairs and part replacements, conducting vehicle inspections, test driving to verify fixes, and communicating with customers about problems and solutions. Technicians need good hand-eye coordination, technical knowledge, and customer service skills to keep vehicles safe and reliable.
Key Responsibilities Diagnosis:
Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
Repair & Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks) and repair or replace worn or broken parts.
Inspection:
Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems and ensure all necessary tasks are completed.
Testing:
Take vehicles on test drives to confirm repairs have been successful and the vehicle is performing correctly.
Customer Service:
Discuss vehicle issues with customers, explain the necessary repairs, and recommend preventative maintenance.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of performed maintenance and repairs.
Shop Maintenance:
Help keep the workshop clean and organized.
Required Skills and Qualifications Mechanical and Technical Skills:
A strong understanding of automotive systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
Diagnostic Tool Proficiency:
Ability to use computerized diagnostic tools to find and pinpoint problems.
Manual Dexterity:
Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform tasks requiring steady hands.
Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with customers to explain complex issues and solutions. Attention to
Detail:
The ability to notice small details to identify the root cause of malfunctions.
Physical Fitness:
May involve lifting objects up to 50 pounds and working in a fast-paced environment.
Valid Driver's License:
Required for test drives and other job-related duties.
Job Type:

$20.00 - $38.00 per hour
