The touch-up technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing minor imperfections on the exterior paint surface for various types of vehicles. The technician will provide excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, and an understanding of minor paint touch-up systems.

Duties and responsibilities

Inspect and Diagnose:

Examine vehicle exterior for wear, minor paint damage, and potential issues.

Repairs:

Perform touch-up repairs on damaged exteriors utilizing available tools and paint products.

Preparation and Finish:

Clean and prep exterior areas, sand and buff, paint touch-up, and conduct quality checks to ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards.

Customer Service:

Communicate effectively with team members/customers regarding the vehicle's condition and provide clear explanations for recommended services.

Compliance:

Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Documentation:

Record all services provided, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, in the shop's system or service tickets.

Qualifications Education/Other:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver's license required.

Experience:

One year of previous experience as an automotive touch-up technician is required. Interior repair experience is a plus.

Skills:

Knowledge of automotive exterior surfaces and paint materials. Familiarity with various paint products and techniques. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and painting machines. Attention to detail and precision in repair work. Good communication and customer service skills. Working conditions Work is typically performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and automotive chemicals. Exposure to adhesives, solvents and other chemicals. May require standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects.
