Responsibilities Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment including, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and yard goats. Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical systems such as transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, suspension, and HVAC components. Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly tasks to repair or modify equipment as needed. Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency. Operate heavy machinery safely during repairs or testing procedures while adhering to all safety protocols. Assist in the training of team members on proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures. Manage inventory of parts and tools necessary for repairs; ensure all tools are maintained in optimal condition for heavy lifting and precision work. Experience Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle systems repair—including brakes, shocks & struts, transmissions—and electrical systems. Hands-on experience working with, forklifts, tractor-trailers, industrial equipment, and diesel engines. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues. Familiarity with automotive electrical systems repair and the use of diagnostic software for heavy truck repair. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on large machinery or vehicle components. Excellent customer service skills when communicating with fleet operators or external service providers; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
