Position Summary As a Heavy-Duty Fleet Technician at Clark Transport, LLC, you play a critical role in keeping our commercial transport fleet and customer vehicles operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working in our Quarryville commercial repair facility, you will perform routine preventive maintenance, advanced diagnostic troubleshooting, and comprehensive mechanical repairs on heavy-duty diesel tractors, trailers, and specialized equipment (including flatbeds and step-decks). This role requires high technical standard execution, a focus on workplace safety, and a commitment to completing repairs right the first time. Core Responsibilities & Duties 1. Fleet Maintenance & Repair Operations Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections (PMs), fluid changes, and lubrication on class 8 diesel tractors, trailers, and shop equipment. Diagnose, overhaul, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivelines, differential units, steering systems, and suspensions. Service and repair air brake systems, ABS networks, hydraulic systems, and electrical/electronic controls. Inspect, repair, and maintain flatbed and step-deck trailer equipment, including landing gear, kingpins, crossmembers, and tarping systems. 2. Diagnostics & System Troubleshooting Utilize diagnostic software and electronic scan tools to analyze fault codes, engine performance issues, and electrical faults. Troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently to minimize shop turnaround time and driver downtime. 3. Safety, Compliance & Inspections Perform thorough safety inspections to ensure all equipment meets Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Assist with Pennsylvania State Inspections (PA Safety and Emissions) on fleet and external commercial customer vehicles as qualified. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, strictly adhering to OSHA, DOT, and internal Clark Transport safety protocols. 4. Documentation & Shop Collaboration Accurately document all work performed, parts used, labor hours, and repair notes on work orders in the shop management system. Coordinate directly with the Parts Manager for required replacement components and notify the Shop Manager of job status, additional needed repairs, or completion times. Maintain personal mechanic hand/power tools in proper, safe working conditions. 5. Additional Operational Duties Assist with service calls or emergency roadside repairs when necessary. Complete additional shop, facility, or maintenance duties assigned by the Shop Manager as operational needs dictate.
