$35 - $45/hr. Position Summary The Field Service CDL Operator is a vital member of Virginia Transformer's Field Service organization, responsible for the safe and timely transportation equipment to customer sites across North America. This home-based position is ideal for an experienced CDL driver who wants to be part of a fast-growing organization securing the U.S. electric grid. Key Responsibilities Transportation & Equipment Management Safely operate and drive a commercial vehicle (Class A CDL required) to transport equipment to designated job sites. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in proper working condition. Maintain assigned equipment and tools, ensuring inventory accuracy and that all equipment is clean and organized prior to arrival at each project site. Ensure the commercial vehicle and trailer are clean, organized, and present a professional appearance at all times. Field Service Support Drive Freightliners with oil processing trailers to the crews at the customers sites Safety & Compliance Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA requirements. Maintain a clean driving record and ensure compliance with all DOT regulations. Promote a strong safety culture, participating in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety meetings. Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inspections, maintenance activities, and service logs. Communicate effectively with scheduling, field service technicians, and the Service Manager to ensure smooth operations. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation or on-site work.
Qualifications Required Class A CDL:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Experience:
Proven experience in operating commercial vehicles and transporting heavy equipment.
Physical Ability:
Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely (up to 60 lbs.).
Work Environment:
Willingness to work in extremely hot and cold conditions, stand for extended periods, and be exposed to loud noise levels.
Travel:
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 90% or more) and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if necessary.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
