Job Overview C CP Recycling is seeking a dependable, mechanically skilled Automotive Dismantler / Recycling Mechanic to assist with dismantling end-of-life vehicles and preparing them for crushing and recycling. This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working with cars, trucks, mechanical tools, and heavy equipment in an automotive recycling environment. The ideal candidate has automotive mechanical experience, works safely, and can efficiently remove vehicle components and materials before vehicles are crushed. Key Responsibilities Inspect vehicles before dismantling and crushing. Safely dismantle cars and light trucks using hand, power, and pneumatic tools. Remove engines, transmissions, catalytic converters, batteries, radiators, wheels, tires, and other designated components. Drain and properly handle vehicle fluids such as gasoline, oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid. Remove parts and materials that can be reused, resold, or separately recycled. Prepare stripped vehicles for the car crusher or baler. Assist with positioning and processing vehicles for crushing. Operate forklifts, loaders, skid steers, or other yard equipment when trained and authorized. Identify potentially valuable or reusable automotive parts during dismantling. Sort metals and other recyclable materials into the appropriate areas. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition. Keep the dismantling and work areas clean and organized. Follow all company safety procedures and environmental requirements. Work closely with equipment operators, yard personnel, and management to maintain an efficient flow of vehicles through the recycling process. Perform other recycling-yard and mechanical duties as needed. Qualifications Automotive mechanical or vehicle dismantling experience preferred. Experience working in an automotive repair shop, salvage yard, junkyard, recycling facility, body shop, or similar environment is a plus. Ability to identify major automotive components. Comfortable using impact guns, saws, torches, wrenches, jacks, and other automotive and dismantling equipment. Basic understanding of automotive mechanical systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to follow safety procedures and supervisor instructions. Forklift, loader, skid-steer, or heavy-equipment experience is a plus. Welding or cutting-torch experience is a plus. Valid driver's license preferred. Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding position.
Employees must be able to:
Regularly lift and carry approximately 50 pounds. Bend, kneel, squat, climb, push, and pull throughout the workday. Use hand and power tools for extended periods. Work around vehicles, machinery, scrap metal, fluids, dirt, dust, and noise. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and other PPE as required. What We Are Looking For CP Recycling is looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, productive, safety-conscious, and willing to work . This position is ideal for an experienced automotive mechanic who enjoys hands-on work but does not necessarily want to perform traditional automotive repair. Experience in vehicle dismantling or recycling is helpful, but we are willing to consider experienced mechanics and mechanically inclined candidates who can learn our dismantling and recycling process. Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
