Position Summary The Oil Change Technician performs basic maintenance services on cars and light trucks, including oil and filter changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, multipoint inspections, and other routine preventative-maintenance tasks. This role supports the service department by identifying maintenance needs, maintaining accurate records, following dealership and manufacturer procedures, and communicating findings to the service team. Responsibilities Perform oil and filter changes according to manufacturer and dealership procedures. Perform routine preventative-maintenance services, including lubrications, tire rotations, battery checks, fluid checks, wiper replacement, and basic inspections. Complete multi-point vehicle inspections and identify visible maintenance or safety concerns. Check and top off fluids, including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield-washer fluid, transmission fluid when applicable, and other vehicle fluids. Inspect tires for tread depth, condition, and proper inflation; rotate tires when assigned. Inspect and replace basic maintenance items such as air filters, cabin air filters, windshield wipers, and light bulbs when needed. Assist experienced technicians with repairs and diagnostics as assigned. Safely operate vehicle lifts, tire equipment, oil-drain equipment, and shop tools. Maintain accurate repair orders, inspection results, and service records. Communicate clearly with service advisors, technicians, and supervisors regarding needed maintenance or concerns identified during inspections. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all dealership policies, manufacturer guidelines, environmental requirements, and safety procedures. Participate in paid training and development opportunities to grow automotive knowledge and technical skills. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous automotive, lube technician, tire, maintenance, or customer-service experience is helpful but not required. General Motors experience is a plus, but not required. ASE certification is not required; willingness to pursue training and certification is encouraged. Valid driver's license required. Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance or a strong willingness to learn. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a positive team-oriented attitude. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment. Ability to safely lift, move, and handle automotive parts, tires, and equipment. Flexible availability.
