McRae's U.S. Mail Service, Inc. is seeking a dependable and hands-on Shop Helper / Light Mechanic to support our maintenance team. McRae's has proudly provided dedicated transportation services to the United States Postal Service for over 35 years and is known for reliability, compliance, and operational excellence. Position Overview This position supports the shop and fleet by performing Sunday truck checks, assisting mechanics with day-to-day tasks, and handling maintenance runs for company vehicles. Schedule Part-time to start, approximately 20-30 hours per week; includes Sundays (fleet check day) Full-time hours may be available for the right candidate Key Responsibilities Perform Sunday checks on parked trucks: fluid levels, mileage, DOT inspection dates Provide general shop support: running for parts, assisting mechanics, keeping the shop organized Drive company vehicles to and from oil changes Assist with basic mechanical tasks as needed Qualifications Some mechanical aptitude or experience preferred Valid driver's license required CDL a plus: required in order to move trucks around the yard, but not required for the position overall Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently Must have a clean driving record Benefits Part-time employees: 401(k) Retirement Plan eligibility Full-time employees additionally qualify for: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Life Insurance What We Offer Competitive hourly pay: $25-$29/hour Potential for full-time hours based on performance and need Stable, established company Supportive team environment Opportunity to work for one of Wisconsin's largest USPS contractors
