This position works within an Air Nional Guard Aviion Wing, Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Avionics Element, Avionics Shop, Communicions/Navigion/ECM, or Guidance and Control shop. It is an Air Nional dual stus technician position th requires military membership, compible military skill assignment and classificion. The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibre, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integred electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. The worker in this career field must demonstre the ability to perform on- or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integred systems associed with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigion systems.
MAJOR DUTIES
1. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integred systems. Completes operional checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) which are linked with integred systems and LRUs which are independent or associed with nonintegred systems. Isoles unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schemics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automic test equipment and Flight Line Test Systems (FLTS). Solves complex problems by analyzing installion, circuitry, and opering characteristics of the systems. Adjusts and aligns system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuors, servos, computers and other reled components. Installs serviceable components into aircraft and performs total systems alignment and harmonizion in accordance with existing technical orders and directives. 2. Reviews and analyzes maintenance da; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adeque test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or da corrections. Aligns, adjusts, and performs final calibrions on integred systems to determine successful repairs. Analyzes equipment failure and malfunctions and suggests changes to improve operion. Monitors the operion of complex, interreled systems, analyzes opering trends, proposes preventive maintenance down time to assure continued opering capability, and recommends components for overhaul or engineering evaluion for disposal. 3. Troubleshoots operional malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief da, Technical Orders, schemic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, da analysis, common and system-specific test equipment and built in system tests. Performs on and off-equipment maintenance on systems such as automic flight control, instruments, communicion, navigion, and inertial navigion. Coordines back shop bench check (if applicable, completes testing, repair, inspection, modificion, programming, reprogramming, ming, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units (SRUs). 4. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical da, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, inities merial deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical da, and assists in design changes as necessary. Conducts aircrew debriefing to determine the nure of system malfunctions. Documents all discrepancies and maintenance actions performed by inputting informion into the electronic records informion systems (i.e.:
CAMS, IMDS, GO-81, REMIS
). Recommends hardware and software changes. Submits change recommendions to Technical Orders. Requisitions supply assets and processes repairable assets in accordance with Standard Base Supply System requirements. 5. May upload and download chaff/flare dispensers. This hazardous task may involve the inspection, storage and handling of explosive devices; to include flares, chaff, impulse cartridges and similar items. Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and reled support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Provides training to lower graded personnel concerned with the repair of integred avionics systems. 6. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire-fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, serve as a security guard, remove snow, load and handle munitions, launch/recover and service aircraft, opere heavy equipment, maintain facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies. GENERAL EXPERIENCE

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Experience or training demonstring the ability to repair, overhaul, rebuild, align, and adjust complete multi-systems such as the electronics package in a highly automed aircraft where target acquisition and tracking, weapons control, aircraft titude control, navigion, and other complex functions are performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected with da feedback loops. Applies comprehensive knowledge of all major units of the complete multisystem, i.e., how they function independently, how they are interfaced in the integred subsystems, and how the subsystems interact to achieve opering specificions. Able to determine proper sequence of operions and start point in sequential operions in order to pinpoint areas of malfunction. Extensive practical knowledge of the theories and practices of electromagnetic propagion, electronic circuits, computer theory, hydraulic or pneumic control and power systems, and many other areas covering a wide range of system applicions. Broad knowledge of the interactions among a number of closely integred complex systems. Knowledge of mhemics, including trigonometry, to calcule power relion ships, signal phasing, etc. Ability to interpret drawings for multisystem complexes such as the complete electronics package for an aircraft including numerous interconnections of signal phs both between and within individual subsystems of the multisystem complex. Ability to isole malfunctions of complete multiple integred systems consisting of closely interreled fire control, bombing-navigion, flight control, countermeasures or similar systems and to determine the methods of repair where extremely complex relionships exist among numerous interconnected units and control circuits not only within the individual control systems but between them as well, requiring complete knowledge of all electronic, mechanical, and or optical systems and units.
