Job Title Bike Mechanic Department Recreation Services Terms and Hours Approx. 2-8 hrs/wk Job Category Student Employment Hourly Wage Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.80) Job Summary Bike Mechanics repair and maintain bikes within the Rec Services rental fleet, and for customers. Mechanics determine parts needed and order as necessary. Work is generally during the week with hours to be coordinated with supervisor, generally 2-8 hours per week. Core Duties Maintain & repair rental fleet bikes, order parts as necessary Inspect customer bikes, offer options for repair & replacement parts Clean bike shop and storage areas Write-up repair tickets, follow up as necessary, communicate with other mechanics regarding repair status and orders Charge consistent and fair price using Shop guidelines. Other relevant duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Experience repairing bikes, tuning front & rear derailleurs, brakes, replacing tubes/changing tires, lubing chains, wrapping handlebars Mechanical skills Interest in learning more about repairing bikes Availability during shop hours Preferred Qualifications Relevant experience as bike mechanic Bike mechanic training course Experience replacing bottom brackets, hydraulic brake bleeding, air shock tuning, cluster & chain ring replacement, chain replacement, brake tuning, wheel truing, bike building, hub replacement Physical Requirements Mechanical skills, dexterity, use of tools Posting Detail Information Posting Number
