Job Description
Job Summary | The Maintenance Technician in the Maintenance department is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of automated equipment to support operations at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator known for providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry. Essential Functions | Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines Ensure high-tech glass fabrication equipment is operating properly Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain productive working relationships across departments Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor Transport tools and materials throughout the plant to support maintenance activities Operate drill presses and other maintenance shop equipment; Fabricate parts as needed Change out barrels and drums, as needed Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machinery Troubleshoot malfunctions and complete repairs using diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications Perform electrical repairs involving motors, controls, and other equipment Diagnose equipment failures and technical issues, identify faulty operations, and recommend solutions to the Maintenance Manager Inspect parts for defects or excessive wear and perform maintenance, installation, repair, replacement, and alignment of equipment and components Maintain technical knowledge by attending trainings, educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and developing professional networks Maintain cross-functional continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to ensure alignment across departments Develop expertise and assist the team in mastering PMWare, while implementing and managing Cardinal PMWare Use maintenance resources, equipment, and supplies effectively to achieve job results Apply sound judgment in daily decision-making and actively contribute to overall team effectiveness and performance Use PLCs to troubleshoot equipment issues and modify equipment programs as needed Participate in and support installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the machine and equipment functions according to specifications Test-run repaired machines and inspect completed installations to ensure proper operation and conformance to design specifications and safety standards Assist and oversee large maintenance projects Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area Assist the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines Requires regular in-person attendance Workplace Environment | Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects Noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant
Note:
A baseline audiogram will be completed and may require yearly maintenance testing provided by Cardinal Glass Industries. Qualifications | Must be 18 years or older Minimum of 3 + years of experience in Maintenance working on high-tech automated equipment required Industrial maintenance experience, robotics, and automation systems required Electrical experience required Experience working with tools and mechanical equipment required PLC experience preferred Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment Ability to read and follow electrical and mechanical schematics Physical Ability | Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift heavier items with assistance Ability to climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, and access confined spaces. Use hand and power tools requiring strong grip strength, manual dexterity, and fine motor coordination.
