Job Description
Job Summary:
The Facilities Technician is responsible for supporting the upkeep, cleanliness, and basic maintenance of facilities by performing routine cleaning, general repairs, and minor installations. This role is expected to have knowledge of and ability to perform minor to moderately difficult work across multiple trades such as electrical, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance. The Facilities Technician uses a variety of hand and power tools and conducts routine checks of buildings and equipment to ensure safe and functional operations.Essential Functions:
- Perform routine cleaning of assigned areas including offices, restrooms, conference rooms, hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize facilities using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions. Maintain floors including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet care. Pressure wash building exteriors and maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas.
- Empty trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal.
- Assemble, move, and install furniture, equipment, and fixtures as needed.
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs including changing light bulbs, patching walls, painting, and fixture replacement.
- Assist with minor plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains, plunging toilets, and repairing leaks.
- Perform basic carpentry work including repairs of doors, cabinets, hardware, and other facility components.
- Perform routine inspections of facilities, tools and equipment report any issues, hazards, repair or replacement needs. Follow guidelines for handling hazardous materials and chemical use (MSDS compliance). Maintain a clean and organized workspace, storage areas, and maintenance supplies.
- Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing materials and equipment as needed, using proper equipment when required.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
- Maintain professional communication and working relationships with staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid California Driver's License and must be insurable under the organization's insurance policy.
- Reliable transportation to travel between sites as needed
- Minimum of one (1) year of field experience with trade school training or three (3) years of hands-on experience in general maintenance
- Working knowledge of multiple trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general maintenance)
- Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively
Other:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with at-risk and diverse populations.
