JOB OVERVIEW
Maintenance Engineer is a highly skilled, independent technician responsible for maintaining the physical condition, safety, and functionality of hotel assets across guestrooms, public areas, and operational facilities. This role executes preventive maintenance, responds to service requests, and supports larger technical initiatives under the guidance of management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal room condition and guest comfort Address HVAC performance, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and finishes with minimal guest disruption Identify emerging issues and recommend proactive repairs to prevent guest dissatisfaction Maintain lighting, climate control, and aesthetic standards in lobbies, meeting spaces, dining outlets, and recreational areas Support event setups and breakdowns by ensuring reliable power, climate, and equipment functionality Conduct routine inspections to identify safety or appearance deficiencies Maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems supporting hotel operations Assist with kitchen, laundry, and support equipment maintenance Participate in life-safety system testing and documentation Coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs as directed Execute PM schedules and close work orders accurately Participate in emergency response and on-call rotations Adhere to hotel standards, safety protocols, and sustainability practices Perform other duties as assigned by Management
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school coursework preferred 3-6 years of experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, or a related technical field Experience in a full-service hotel or similar commercial environment preferred Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance and independent repairs across multiple trades Required Skills/Abilities Solid working knowledge of: HVAC systems and controls; Electrical systems, lighting, and outlets; Plumbing fixtures and piping; Basic life-safety systems Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex maintenance issues independently Strong time-management and prioritization skills Customer-service orientation when interacting with guests and hotel colleagues Ability to follow safety protocols, brand standards, and departmental procedures Proficient in work order management systems and basic computer use Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, vendors, and team members Schedule Work schedules are based on the operational needs of the business. Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required for this position. Physical, Mental and Environmental & Technical Demands Fast-paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint. Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, and twist in the work area. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 250lbs. often for extended periods. Must be able to maneuver around property. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and copier. Must have manual dexterity to operate all office equipment. Grooming All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as part of the orientation process.
