Commercial Door Installer
Job Description
The Service Technician is responsible for performing skilled service, installation, maintenance, and repairs on a range of commercial door systems and related equipment. This includes rolling doors, dock levelers, door hardware, hollow metal and aluminum frames, and access systems. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of industry experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a customer-first attitude.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service and Install:
Rolling steel doors, sectional doors, high-speed doors, and fire doors Dock equipment including dock levelers, edge-of-dock levelers, and lift platforms Dock seals, shelters, and loading dock accessories Hollow metal and aluminum frames and doors Door hardware: exit devices, latches, closers, and locks Perform low-voltage electrical work including control wiring and sensor troubleshooting Conduct minor masonry repairs (jamb patching, dock leveler pits) Perform basic steel work including cutting, welding, painting, and cleaning Maintain accurate and detailed job notes, including materials used, time tracking, and customer concerns Operate man-lifts, ladders, and material handling equipment safely and efficiently Interact professionally and courteously with customers on job sites Use mobile phones, tablets, field service apps, and digital tools for job tracking and documentation- Determine and communicate directly to the Technician Assistant what their start time is each day.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years of experience in the door industry (commercial required)
- Knowledge of standard commercial door systems; glazing experience is a plus
- AAADM Certification is a plus
- Competent in troubleshooting and installing low-voltage electrical systems
- Experience with welding, basic steel work, and masonry patching
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with service software, mobile devices, and digital job tracking
- Ability to climb ladders and work safely at various heights
- Able to keep detailed records of time, job notes, safety issues, customer concerns
- Professional and friendly appearance with strong customer service skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a service vehicle and tow a trailer

Field-based with regular exposure to outdoor weather, construction sites, and mechanical environments. May include moderate noise levels, uneven terrain, and ladder/roof access.Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly Ability to stand, walk, climb, crouch, and kneel for extended periods Ability to drive between job sites daily Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via mobile platformsReasonable Accommodations:
