This position is designed for an experienced technician who can independently respond to commercial and industrial service calls, diagnose equipment failures, make safe and effective repairs when possible, and clearly identify what is required when additional parts or follow-up work are needed. This can be an excellent fit for an experienced door, dock, gate, or commercial service technician looking for additional weekend hours. What You'll Do Respond to scheduled weekend service and emergency calls Troubleshoot commercial and industrial door and dock equipment Diagnose equipment failures and determine corrective action Repair rolling steel doors and sectional doors Service dock levelers, vehicle restraints, bumpers, seals, and shelters Troubleshoot commercial operators, controls, limits, photo eyes, and safety devices Perform mechanical adjustments and component replacement Complete minor welding/fabrication when required Secure equipment safely when a permanent repair cannot be completed immediately Identify required replacement parts and follow-up repairs Communicate findings with customers and management Take clear before/after photos Complete detailed technician notes through our field-service system Maintain professional customer and jobsite standards What We're Looking For Commercial door and dock service experience strongly preferred Ability to independently diagnose mechanical problems Rolling steel and sectional door experience Dock equipment experience preferred Commercial operator and control troubleshooting experience preferred Basic electrical/low-voltage diagnostic ability Welding/fabrication experience is a plus Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Reliable transportation Dependable and responsive when accepting an on-call assignment Ability to work independently without constant supervision Professional communication with commercial and industrial customers Schedule This is not a standard Monday-Friday position. Work will primarily consist of weekend service calls, scheduled weekend projects, and emergency service coverage. Hours will vary based on customer demand. Candidates should be available for Saturday and/or Sunday work and willing to respond to emergency calls when they have accepted on-call coverage. Additional weekday, evening, or project work may become available depending on workload and candidate availability. Who This Position Fits This role is particularly suited for an experienced commercial door, dock, gate, garage-door, industrial maintenance, or field-service technician who already works during the week and wants consistent opportunities for additional weekend income. You must be capable of showing up to a customer facility, assessing the problem, communicating professionally, and either completing the repair or giving our office the information needed to immediately move the job forward.
