Job Title:
CNC Maintenance Technician Job Description The CNC Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs CNC machines and related production equipment to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and accuracy. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and controls expertise to support daily operations, reduce unplanned downtime, and continuously improve machine performance. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, routers, grinders, and auxiliary equipment, and accurately document all work performed. Diagnose and repair mechanical components such as bearings, ball screws, way covers, spindles, lubrication systems, and pneumatic components to restore optimal machine function. Troubleshoot electrical issues including wiring faults, servo drives, PLCs, relays, sensors, and control panels, and implement effective repairs. Inspect, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, and cylinders, as well as pneumatic systems such as air compressors and regulators. Perform machine calibration activities including alignments, backlash checks, leveling, and axis calibration to maintain precision and accuracy. Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, identify root causes of failures, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Coordinate with OEMs and external service providers for complex repairs, parts sourcing, and warranty-related work. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and adhere to safety standards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Maintain clear records of maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and issues to relevant stakeholders. Essential Skills Proven experience in CNC maintenance, including troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of CNC machines and related equipment. Strong electrical skills, including electrical troubleshooting of wiring, servo drives, PLCs, relays, sensors, and control panels. Mechanical troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience repairing bearings, ball screws, spindles, way covers, and lubrication systems. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic systems such as pumps, valves, and cylinders. Experience with pneumatic systems, including inspection, repair, and maintenance of air compressors and regulators. Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices for CNC mills, lathes, routers, grinders, and auxiliary equipment. Ability to perform machine calibration, including alignments, backlash checks, leveling, and axis calibration. Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly identify root causes of machine breakdowns and implement effective corrective actions. Commitment to following safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with OEM technical documentation and coordination with external service providers. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and external vendors. Experience combining both electrical and mechanical maintenance in a production setting. Work Environment The role is based in a production and manufacturing environment working with CNC mills, lathes, routers, grinders, and associated auxiliary equipment. The technician regularly works with electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and control technologies such as PLCs, servo drives, relays, and sensors. The environment emphasizes safety, including strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and safe maintenance practices around heavy machinery and energized equipment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72000.00
