Job Description

Position Summary:
Prepares a systematic approach to the cleaning, repair, and maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and related facilities. Performs minor carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, painting, cleaning, and plumbing work. Initiates and oversees the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and communicates all needs necessary to complete repair tasks. Performs general cleaning and minor maintenance duties in maintaining facilities, adjacent walkways, and grounds. Assures that all equipment remains clean, safe, orderly, and functional.
Essential Functions:
Complete and manage the work and repair order process in a timely fashion, including estimating time and extent of repairs Perform routine preventive maintenance and manage maintenance schedules Maintain tools, organize workspace materials, and manage supply inventory Work with other teammates and outside contractors on projects as needed Receive and perform verbal or written directives from the Safety and Facilities Manager or Executive Team and report all work anticipated and accomplished to the immediate supervisor Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems, detect malfunctions, and identify needed repairs; communicate maintenance needs across departments Communicate with facilities management regarding any work requiring outside expert assistance Take initiative and anticipate problems before they occur by performing preventative maintenance and repair work on equipment Perform work according to standard procedures, building schedules, and all applicable safety rules Perform painting, carpentry, electrical, and masonry work Perform electrical maintenance, including but not limited to: o Wall switches and outlets o Incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes o Ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords o Use of appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools Perform plumbing maintenance, including: o Repairing leaks in drains and faucets o Unclogging drains o Trenching and laying new lines o Replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices Prepare surfaces for painting and apply paints, stains, or sealants using sprayers, rollers, brushes, and related tools o May also perform duties such as hanging drywall, doors, and fitting locks and handles Perform general housekeeping in areas including hallways, restrooms, lobbies, lounges, stairways, common areas, walkways, break rooms, kitchen areas, and office spaces
Additional Functions:
Other duties as assigned Flexible availability, including on-call as needed Critical thinking skills to research machinery and specifications
Job Specifications:
Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and goals Professional representation of the organization at all times Ability to meet attendance and punctuality standards Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow directions Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems Experience using power tools Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to use initiative and sound judgment Skill in analyzing problems, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations General understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations Strong ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas
Additional Requirements:
Must pass all required background checks Must have flexible availability Must remain compliant with all legal, regulatory, and company requirements Basic computer skills required to learn maintenance software
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school preferred 1-3 years of maintenance, construction, or mechanical experience Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, laboratory ventilation, or industrial cooling systems preferred Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and schedules Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Working Conditions:
Regular physical activity including grasping, lifting, stooping, squatting, crawling, and repetitive motions Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs (150 lbs with assistance) Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours) Ability to work in varying indoor/outdoor temperatures Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
