- $26.62 per hour D.O.E. High School Diploma or GED. Valid Florida Driver License. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Water Distribution License and FWPCOA Wastewater Collection System Operator Certificate within 12 months of hire. Utility Maintenance Tech II $17.14

25 per hour D.O.E. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Utility Maintenance Tech II or equivalent. Valid Florida Driver License. Must possess and maintain a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Water Distribution License and/or FWPCOA Wastewater Collection System Operator Certificate. Must possess and maintain a Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL). The City Commission desires candidates who are visionary, innovative, and team oriented in their approach, and able to employ a style that engenders mutual trust and openness with community partners and stakeholders. This position works within the Infrastructure Department and is under the direct supervision of the Infrastructure Field Manager. Employees perform construction, operation, maintenance, repair, and emergency response activities associated with the City's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Incumbents assist in maintaining critical utility infrastructure while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Duties:
Perform construction, installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of water distribution and wastewater collection system components. Install, repair, and maintain water mains, service lines, valves, hydrants, water meters, meter boxes, manholes, cleanouts, and related utility infrastructure. Operate hand tools, power tools, pumps, tapping machines, pipe saws, trenching equipment, excavators, backhoes, vac-trucks, CCTV inspection equipment, rodding equipment, high-pressure jetting equipment, and other specialized utility maintenance equipment. Perform valve exercising, meter maintenance, leak repairs, line flushing, sewer maintenance, and system troubleshooting. Read and interpret utility maps, work orders, and construction plans. Maintain daily work logs, equipment records, and maintenance documentation. Assist with preventive maintenance programs and maintain equipment in proper working condition. Respond to utility emergencies, after-hours service calls, water main breaks, sewer backups, and other emergency situations. Follow all confined space, trench safety, traffic control, and workplace safety requirements. Maintain tools, vehicles, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition. Assist with training and mentoring lower-level Utility Maintenance Technicians as experience and classification allow. Participate in the department's on-call rotation. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, maintenance practices, and construction methods. Ability to safely operate construction equipment, specialized utility equipment, and power tools. Knowledge of occupational hazards, trench safety, confined space entry, traffic control, and safe work practices. Ability to read maps, utility plans, and work orders. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and the public. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to bend, stoop, climb, regularly lift 60 pounds, work in confined spaces, and perform strenuous work outdoors during adverse weather conditions.
