A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.

: 09/04/2026 $25.18 to $27.70 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Barefoot Bay. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Performs skilled crafts and trades work supervising the installation and maintenance to water meters, repair of water and wastewater lines, wet wells, manholes, lift station equipment, and water pumps. Supervision is provided to line and mechanic staff.
REQUIREMENTS
: High School Diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), PLUS four (4) years of progressively responsible field experience in water and wastewater line maintenance and/or construction, which includes one (1) year in a supervisory or lead worker capacity; OR one (1) year as a Brevard County Utility System Specialist III. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a current Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Level III or higher Water Distribution System Operator license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Wastewater Collection Technician Level C or higher certification from the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association (FW&PCOA) or another approved agency is preferred. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Intermediate certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must be able to satisfactorily complete all required mandatory County training. Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include respiratory protection. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and standby and call-out duties on a rotational basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
