Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and continuous operation of equipment, utilities, and facility systems across both HERNON Manufacturing plants. The position performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and facility support; responds to approved Maintenance Requests; and works with Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and external service providers to restore equipment and building systems while minimizing operational disruption. Duties The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Provide maintenance coverage for both the Adhesives Plant and Equipment Plant, prioritizing work according to safety, production impact, equipment criticality, and approved maintenance requests. Receive, evaluate, execute, document, and close Maintenance Requests for mechanical, electrical, equipment, utility, and facility/building needs. Keep request status and completed actions current and escalate unresolved issues. Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on production equipment and plant utilities, including mixers, filling/assembly equipment, machining support equipment, air compressors/dryers, HVAC-related equipment, pumps, motors, sensors, and other applicable assets. Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform corrective repairs involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic control systems within demonstrated qualification. Escalate work requiring specialized expertise. Respond to breakdowns and abnormal conditions, identify the immediate cause when practical, restore safe operation, and support root-cause/corrective-action activities for recurring or significant failures. Perform or coordinate facility maintenance, including lighting, electrical outlets, doors, plumbing, HVAC issues, compressed-air systems, and other building infrastructure affecting safe and reliable operations. Apply Lockout/Tagout and all applicable HERNON safety requirements before maintenance work. Never bypass machine safeguards, safety devices, approved procedures, or Quality requirements to restore production. Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, leaks, spills, equipment damage, or other conditions that may create safety, quality, environmental, or production risk, and support appropriate containment and correction. Coordinate with Production Supervisors and area leaders before equipment is removed from service and communicate equipment status, estimated restoration timing when known, and return-to-service condition. Support installation, relocation, startup, inspection, and maintenance of production equipment and utilities as required for both plants. Identify required spare parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance services; communicate purchasing needs and support maintenance spare-parts control to reduce avoidable downtime. Contact and coordinate approved external vendors/contractors when specialized support is required, provide clear scope information, follow work execution, and retain applicable service reports/work orders. Maintain accurate maintenance records, including PM completion, repair history, vendor service documentation, findings, parts used, and open follow-up actions. Support continuous improvement of equipment reliability by identifying recurring failures and opportunities to improve preventive maintenance frequency, maintainability, safety, and equipment uptime. Complete required safety, equipment, and maintenance training and perform only work for which the employee is trained and qualified. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or a related field preferred. Practical industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial electrical troubleshooting, pneumatics, motors, sensors, pumps, compressed-air systems, and basic facility maintenance. Ability to read equipment manuals, basic electrical/mechanical drawings, and technical instructions; use standard diagnostic and maintenance tools safely. Ability to organize work across two plants, respond to changing priorities, document completed work, and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and vendors. Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, PPE, and general industrial safety practices.
