Job Description
Pig Movement & Farm Maintenance Technician Position Summary The Pig Movement & Farm Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of pigs between barns and facilities. This position reports directly to the Head of Maintenance and plays a key role in maintaining animal flow, equipment cleanliness, and overall farm operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and willing to perform a variety of farm maintenance and cleaning duties as needed. Primary Responsibilities Pig Movement Move pigs between barns, production sites, and other designated locations as directed. Load and unload pigs safely while following all animal welfare and biosecurity protocols. Ensure pigs are transported efficiently and with minimal stress. Trailer & Equipment Maintenance Operate tractors and other farm equipment required for pig movement. Clean, sanitize, and maintain livestock trailers after each use. Perform routine inspections of trailers and report any maintenance or repair needs. Keep all pig-moving equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition. Transfer Barn Responsibilities Clean, disinfect, and maintain the transfer barn. Ensure the transfer barn is ready for each scheduled sale. Maintain a clean, organized, and biosecure work environment. General Maintenance & Farm Support Assist the Head of Maintenance with general maintenance projects. Complete cleaning, repair, and facility upkeep tasks as assigned. Help maintain buildings, equipment, and farm grounds. Perform other duties necessary to support daily farm operations. Qualifications Valid driver's license. Ability to safely operate a tractor or willingness to learn. Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work. Comfortable working around livestock. Strong work ethic with dependable attendance. Ability to follow directions and work independently. Mechanical aptitude is a plus but not required. Reporting Structure Reports directly to the Head of Maintenance .
