Maintenance Technician Job Description This role is for a Maintenance Technician working in a GMP food manufacturing environment producing marshmallow products. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery and building equipment, ensuring reliable operation of plant process and utility equipment. The position requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to safety and quality in a regulated manufacturing setting. Responsibilities
+ Respond to repair requests for production machinery and building equipment across all facility areas.
+ Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and perform appropriate repairs to return machinery to satisfactory running condition.
+ Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts, and written or verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
+ Perform moderate to complex adjustments, maintenance, and repairs to plant equipment such as bagging machines, conveyors, case erectors, kitchen equipment, and utility equipment.
+ Carry out basic rebuilding of gearboxes, motors, and small pneumatic equipment.
+ Analyze existing equipment problems and help develop innovative solutions to improve reliability and performance.
+ Unload powdered and liquid raw materials from rail cars as needed, following all safety and quality procedures.
+ Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant process and utility equipment, including lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment inspection.
+ Assist with equipment installations and upgrades for bagging machines, conveyors, kitchen equipment, and utility equipment.
+ Use hand tools and power tools safely while performing maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.
+ Follow GMP and food safety guidelines while working on production and packaging equipment.
+ Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to minimize downtime and support efficient operations.
+ Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders. Essential Skills
+ Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems.
+ Experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance in an industrial environment.
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
