Anchor Garage Door Services is a small, family-owned company serving the Sauk Valley area, and as our business grows, we have an opportunity to offer an entry-level position to train and develop the right person into a skilled garage door technician. Previous garage door experience is not necessary—we will provide on-the-job training. However, applicants must have a blend of mechanical aptitude and technical understanding, along with a commitment to learning the craft.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must be mechanically and technically inclined, with an understanding of how parts work together and the ability to apply that knowledge to each job.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be able to accurately read and use a tape measure and perform basic job-related calculations.
• Must be able to safely lift, carry and push up to 50 lbs.
• Must be comfortable working at heights, using ladders and scissor lifts, working in tight spaces and working outdoors year-round.
• Must work safely around mechanical components, electrical components, and moving parts.
• Composite or steel toed boots are required.

JOB DUTIES

• Assist with installing, servicing, and repairing residential and commercial garage doors and operators.
• Take accurate measurements, diagnose problems, and complete repairs.
• Load and unload tools, parts, doors, operators, and other materials.
• Follow established installation, repair, and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate job records, including notes and photos.
• Keep service vehicles, the shop, and work areas clean and organized.
• Restock vehicles and supplies as needed.
• Make sure tools, materials, vehicles, and workspaces are ready for the next job or workday.
• Complete other related duties as needed.

SCHEDULE

Work hours may vary and may not follow the same schedule every day or week. Start times and ending times can depend on scheduled jobs, customer needs, travel, weather, and workload. Hours may increase as the business continues to grow. Applicants must have reasonable flexibility and understand that the garage-door service business does not always follow a perfectly regular schedule. 90-DAY

INTRODUCTORY PERIOD AND PAY INCREASE

The first 90 days will be an introductory period. During this time, we will be looking closely at dependability, attendance, attitude, safety, mechanical ability, listening skills, work quality, and willingness to learn. If you successfully complete the 90-day period and have shown that you can understand, learn, perform the work safely, and grow with the company, your pay will be increased. Continued employment and advancement will depend on performance, reliability, business needs, and the progress you make in learning the craft.
