Job Overview MUD Construction is a woman-owned home repair and renovation company serving the Champaign-Urbana area. Our current five-person field team is made up of women who love working in the trades, and we've built a work environment that allows us to do meaningful construction work while still showing up for our lives and families outside of work. Our primarily daytime schedule and flexible weekly hours make room for things like school pickup, family responsibilities, appointments, and life outside of work while still maintaining the reliability our clients and teammates depend on. We specialize in residential home repair, maintenance, installations, renovations, and punch-list projects. We're looking for an experienced Handyperson to join our growing crew—someone with a solid hands-on skill set who enjoys fixing things, solving problems, and continuing to learn. Duties Perform general residential home repairs and maintenance Complete drywall repairs, finishing, patching, and painting Install and replace faucets, garbage disposals, light fixtures, and other household fixtures Hang TVs, mirrors, pictures, shelving, and other wall-mounted items Install and repair doors, hardware, access panels, and miscellaneous household components Install and adjust cabinets and assemble furniture and fixtures Install LVP flooring and assist with other residential renovation projects Troubleshoot common home repair issues and determine practical solutions within your skill level Maintain a clean, organized work area and protect clients' homes while working Communicate with the owner/crew when a repair falls outside your experience or requires additional direction Requirements 1-2+ years of hands-on experience in home repair, maintenance, construction, remodeling, or a similar field Comfortable and confident using common hand and power tools Ability to independently complete repairs and installations within your demonstrated skill set Strong problem-solving and time-management skills Dependable, professional, and respectful when working in clients' homes Consistent weekly availability Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely work from ladders/heights Valid driver's license and current auto insurance Reliable personal vehicle for traveling between residential job sites Schedule & Pay $18-$25 per hour , based on experience and demonstrated skill Approximately 20-30 hours per week once fully onboarded Typical work hours fall between 8 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday Flexible scheduling based on employee availability and project needs Occasional weekend availability as needed Working With MUD Construction New team members initially work alongside the owner and crew while learning MUD Construction's standards and processes. As you demonstrate your skills, reliability, and judgment, there are opportunities to take on more independent assignments, increased responsibility, and additional growth within the company.
