Job Description
National Oilwell Varco, L.P. is seeking a reliable Maintenance Mechanic for our Amelia, LA facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the performance and safety of large company assets through routine and corrective maintenance, meticulous documentation, and coordination with equipment vendors. This role demands a strong safety focus, high-quality workmanship, and effective communication with the Operations Manager and support teams. High school diploma or GED; technical certification or apprenticeship preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience performing maintenance on heavy industrial equipment. Proficiency with maintenance management systems, preferably AIMS. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures. Effective communication skills for vendor interaction and team collaboration. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Valid driver's license and ability to obtain required certifications (e.g., forklift). Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite. Commitment to maintaining high quality workmanship and safety awareness. Perform scheduled maintenance on all company assets according to the established plan. Execute unscheduled (reactive) maintenance to quickly restore equipment functionality. Develop and maintain a monthly routine maintenance schedule for all assets. Document all maintenance activities in the AIMS system accurately and timely. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. Account for all tools and equipment assigned for maintenance tasks. Coordinate with equipment vendors for technical assistance and parts as needed. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry best practices. Monitor and report equipment performance trends to the Operations Manager. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency.
