Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mechanical and electrical machinery and support equipment. The position follows a 12-hour rotating day shift on a 2-2-3 schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and focuses heavily on first-call response for equipment breakdowns and preventative maintenance activities. Responsibilities Install, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical machinery, equipment, and support systems used in the manufacturing process. Act as the primary first-call troubleshooter for equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and keep production running efficiently. Perform preventative maintenance on production and support equipment to reduce unplanned failures and extend equipment life. Diagnose and resolve issues involving microprocessor-based equipment, including PLCs and electronic control systems. Use welding and machining skills to repair or fabricate parts and components as needed to support ongoing operations. Interpret and work from technical documentation, such as equipment manuals, schematics, and diagrams, to identify and correct equipment problems. Collaborate with production personnel, including Print Technicians and Extrusion Technicians, to understand issues and implement effective maintenance solutions. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring equipment issues and recommending long-term corrective actions. Maintain a safe and orderly work area and follow all safety procedures while working in a fast-paced production environment. Lift, move, and position equipment and materials weighing up to 75-100 pounds as required for maintenance tasks. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent mechanical ability. Fundamental mechanics skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical equipment and systems. Experience with welding for repair and fabrication tasks. Electrical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and systems. Knowledge and hands-on experience with PLCs and electronic controls. Knowledge of microprocessor-based equipment, including PLCs, as a core requirement. Better-than-average math skills to support troubleshooting, measurements, and equipment adjustments. Ability to lift 75-100 pounds and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with production equipment such as print and extrusion machinery or similar manufacturing systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree in industrial maintenance or a closely related field (strongly preferred). Experience supporting Print Technicians and Extrusion Technicians or working with comparable production processes. Experience as a PLC technician or similar role involving PLC programming, troubleshooting, or maintenance. Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical systems in an integrated manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to equipment issues. Why Work Here?
