Maintenance Technician / Handyman (for both our East Lansing and Owosso locations) Position Summary Looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician/Handyman to support the ongoing needs of our coffee shop operations (Owosso & East Lansing). This individual will be responsible for preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, facility upkeep, and responding to maintenance issues as they arise. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, self-motivated, flexible, and available for occasional on-call service when urgent repairs are needed. Does require travel to multiple cafe locations. The ideal candidate is proactive, responsive, and comfortable handling a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks in a fast-paced coffee shop environment. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repairs Clean and maintain a variety of kitchen/cafe equipment• Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing issues, including sinks, drains, faucets, water lines, and fixtures. Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues, including outlets, switches, lighting, and equipment connections Perform basic furnace and HVAC maintenance and upkeep (repairs is a bonus). Coordinate with specialized contractors when repairs exceed in-house capabilities. Preventative Maintenance Conduct monthly preventative maintenance inspections at all locations. Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for equipment and building systems. Identify potential issues before they become costly repairs. Keep records of maintenance activities and completed repairs. Facility Upkeep Complete general handyman tasks like: painting, drywall repair, carpentry, and fixture installation Repair doors, locks, shelving, cabinetry, and other building components. Assist with minor remodeling and improvement projects as needed. Ensure facilities remain safe, clean, and operational. On-Call Support Be available for occasional emergency maintenance calls outside of regular business hours. Respond promptly to urgent equipment failures or facility issues that impact operations. Provide practical solutions to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity. Qualifications Experience in maintenance, facilities management, handyman services, or a related trade. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial equipment. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (vehicle provided if in the Owosso area). Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, bending, and working in confined spaces. Bonus Qualifications Experience working in restaurants, coffee shops, or food-service environments. Knowledge of commercial refrigeration and ice machine maintenance. Experience with water filtration systems, including RO systems. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or refrigeration certifications are a plus. Schedule & Availability Flexible schedule. Monthly preventative maintenance visits (Owosso, East Lansing) Availability for on-call/Facetime emergency repairs when needed. Part-time or contract position with potential for expanded responsibilities based on business needs. •For technical expertise on coffee equipment, training can be provided.
Pay:
$20.00 - $45.00 per hour
