This position is responsible for helping maintain the overall condition, appearance, safety, and working order of the hotel. The ideal candidate is someone who is hands-on, takes pride in their work, can troubleshoot problems independently, and understands the importance of responding quickly when a maintenance issue affects a guest or hotel operation. This position requires general maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting ability in areas such as painting, basic HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, equipment repair, preventative maintenance, minor landscaping tasks, and proper tool usage . The Maintenance Technician must be comfortable working independently while also working closely with hotel management, housekeeping, front desk, and outside vendors. Responsibilities Maintain the overall condition and appearance of the hotel. Complete repairs and maintenance in guestrooms, public areas, employee areas, and back-of-house spaces. Maintain the exterior of the building, parking lot, grounds, entrances, and other common areas. Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance concerns involving hotel equipment, fixtures, appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical components, and other building systems. Complete preventative maintenance in guestrooms and public areas and ensure completed work is properly documented. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related maintenance concerns. Perform basic painting, drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and other general property repairs as needed. Inspect guestrooms and hotel equipment for maintenance concerns and identify problems before they become larger repairs. Assist with routine safety inspections and help ensure hotel equipment and building systems remain in safe working condition. Maintain maintenance tools, supplies, equipment, and work areas in an organized and professional manner. Determine when repairs can be completed in-house and when an outside vendor or specialized contractor is required. Work with approved vendors and contractors when repairs or services need to be outsourced. Communicate maintenance concerns, needed parts, equipment failures, and larger repair needs to hotel management. Work closely with all hotel departments to help ensure guest needs are met and hotel operations are not interrupted. Maintain a clean and professional appearance throughout the property while completing maintenance work. Assist with other property maintenance projects and operational needs as assigned. Qualifications General building maintenance and repair knowledge. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience or working knowledge in areas such as painting, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, equipment repair, and general maintenance. Ability to work independently and manage maintenance priorities without constant supervision. Ability to communicate professionally with guests, team members, management, vendors, and contractors. Dependable, organized, and able to follow through on maintenance requests and preventative maintenance assignments. Willingness to learn hotel-specific equipment, systems, and preventative maintenance procedures. Availability Because hotel operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week , the Maintenance Technician must be dependable and willing to respond when urgent maintenance situations arise. The Maintenance Technician must be willing and able to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normally scheduled working hours when necessary. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the property, notices problems before they become major issues, and understands that a well-maintained hotel is an important part of providing an excellent guest experience.
