Onsite at an assigned Worden facility; local travel as needed Position Summary The Maintenance Technician keeps Worden production equipment, utilities, and facilities operating safely and reliably. The role diagnoses failures, completes repairs and preventive maintenance, supports production and improvement projects, and communicates equipment status and risks to the people affected. The technician partners with production, engineering, facilities, and outside service providers, with priorities set in coordination with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering. Primary Responsibilities Respond to equipment problems, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other systems within training and authorization, and restore production safely while minimizing downtime Complete maintenance work requests and preventive maintenance for production equipment, shop systems, and office facilities; prioritize work with management and communicate expected completion times and production impact Identify root causes of recurring failures, make durable repairs, and recommend equipment, process, or fixture changes that improve reliability, quality, or safety Use hand and power tools and tool room equipment, including lathes, mills, and saws, to repair parts and fabricate approved tools or fixtures. Apply relevant trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, fabrication, welding, and electrical work within demonstrated competence and authorization Install or modify electrical, pneumatic, and other utilities only within assigned authority and applicable requirements; coordinate specialized, licensed, or high-risk work with qualified personnel or contractors Support sprinkler, HVAC, boiler, and dust collection system upkeep through routine checks, records, and coordination of required inspections and service by qualified providers Work with requestors and engineering on project scope, design, fixtures, work cells, tooling, and equipment improvements; make day-to-day decisions within approved priorities and escalate changes in scope, cost, or risk Maintain accurate work orders, preventive maintenance records, parts usage, and equipment history; communicate handoffs, unresolved issues, and equipment readiness to production and the next shift Purchase approved maintenance parts and services from appropriate vendors based on availability, cost, quality, and service; help maintain stock levels and inventory accuracy for regularly used supplies Follow lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, hot work, and other applicable safety procedures; identify and correct or report hazards, and verify safeguards are in place before returning equipment to service Apply 5S and lean practices, participate in continuous improvement, identify training and equipment capability needs, and help production teams use and care for equipment appropriately Build constructive working relationships, demonstrate Worden values of Love, Honesty, Positivity, and Do Your Best, and perform other related duties as assigned Experience and Strengths Hands-on industrial maintenance or equivalent technical experience with mechanical troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and safe use of shop tools Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams relevant to assigned work; familiarity with work-order or maintenance tracking systems Practical judgment to triage breakdowns, investigate root causes, communicate clearly with operators and leaders, and follow through on repairs and records Knowledge of safe maintenance practices, including hazardous energy control, machine guarding, and use of appropriate PPE; ability to perform specialized work only with the required training and authorization Preferred exposure to thermoforming, CNC equipment, fabric cutting and sewing equipment, PLCs and automation, edge banders, panel saws, spray equipment, boilers, or dust collectors. Experience with any combination is valuable; proficiency in every listed system is not required Work Environment and Role Expectations This on-site role works in production, shop, mechanical, and office areas and may require local travel between Worden locations. Work may involve standing, walking, bending, reaching, using ladders or elevated access equipment, handling tools and parts, and exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, and temperature variation. The technician follows site safety procedures and uses required PPE. Occasional work outside the regular shift may be needed for urgent repairs or scheduled maintenance.
