General Maintenance Technician - 1st
Shift Location:
Macomb, MIJob Type:
Full-Time, Direct HireSchedule:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM, with overtime as scheduled
Compensation:
Based on experience and qualifications A well-established automotive machining manufacturer in Macomb is seeking a dependable General Maintenance Technician to support facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, and day-to-day plant operations. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable handling a variety of facility repairs, and able to work independently. The General Maintenance Technician will help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient manufacturing facility. Primary Responsibilities Perform general facility maintenance, including basic plumbing, heating and cooling, electrical, and building repairs Complete and assist with preventive maintenance on forklifts, floor scrubbers, conveyors, and other facility equipment Serve as a backup for coolant-related responsibilities Troubleshoot maintenance issues and complete repairs within your experience level Monitor facility cleanliness and organization, including the parking lot and storage areas Help direct and train janitorial employees Monitor cleaning supplies and coordinate with outside vendors Support recycling, environmental, and stormwater-related requirements and documentation Assist Shipping and Receiving when needed Follow all safety, lockout/tagout, housekeeping, and environmental procedures Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, quality, and facility organization Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Two or more years of facility, general maintenance, or manufacturing maintenance experience Experience with general repairs, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, or basic electrical work Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities Experience operating forklifts and man lifts Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic toolroom equipment Previous manufacturing experience strongly preferred Stormwater Operator certification is helpful but not required Willingness to work overtime when scheduled The company offers a stable work environment, opportunities for continued development, and a comprehensive benefits package.
