Job Description
Tired of Doing the Same Thing Every Day? If you're the person everyone calls when something breaks, leaks, sticks, cracks, won't close, or just needs to be fixed right the first time - we'd like to talk to you. Northland Property Management is looking for an experienced handyman / maintenance technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position working at rental properties, commercial properties, and HOA/condominium communities that we manage throughout the Traverse City area. No two days will look exactly the same. One day you might be repairing drywall and replacing a door, and the next you could be fixing a faucet, installing a light fixture, repairing trim, or taking care of a punch list at one of our properties. We're looking for someone who has a broad range of maintenance skills, can troubleshoot problems, and - most importantly - takes pride in doing good work. What You'll Be Doing
- Complete general handyman and property maintenance repairs
- Perform minor carpentry, drywall repair, patching, and painting
- Repair and replace doors, locks, cabinets, trim, screens, and other fixtures
- Handle minor plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, drains, and basic leaks
- Complete minor electrical work such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, and similar items within your skill level
- Install shelving, hardware, fixtures, and other property improvements
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine the best way to repair them
- Complete work orders at occupied and vacant rental properties
- Perform maintenance and repair projects for the condominium and HOA communities we manage
- Help with property turnovers and punch-list items when needed
- Coordinate with our office when a repair requires a licensed contractor or is outside your scope
- Keep work areas clean and leave properties looking better than you found them Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who already knows their way around a toolbox. This isn't an entry-level maintenance position.
- Solid, well-rounded handyman or property maintenance experience
- Comfortable working independently and figuring out how to solve problems
- Knows when a repair is within their skill set - and when it's time to call in a licensed professional
- Dependable and able to manage their daily workload
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Comfortable working in both occupied and vacant properties
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
