Summary:

To provide continuity in supervision and the expertise for the building, systems and grounds maintenance. Responsible to maintain and clean & safe environment within the facility and grounds and also maintain and/or service HVAC units.

Education Requirements and Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) is required. Three (3) years of increasing responsible HVAC equipment maintenance and repair experience is preferred. Experience working within the tribal community is preferred.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Computer application skills with experience in: Microsoft Windows & Internet access. Good verbal/written communication and customer service skills. Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds is required. Ability to deal with conflicting situations in a patient and sensitive manner is preferred. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision is required. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload. Organizational and leadership capabilities are preferred. Ability to manage time well and follow through with projects Be flexible, self-motivated and dependable Native American preference. Excellent attendance and punctuality is a must. Must meet Leek Lake Licensing Standards Familiarity with Leech Lake Reservation. Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Must practice safety precautions and be safety conscious at all times. Organize/develop and obtains estimate/pricing for all contracted work. Develop and implement plans for safety precautions, including proper and safe methods for use of equipment and cleaning chemicals. Set and maintain standard for the facility, ensure quality control via periodic inspections of building, systems, grounds and associated buildings. Perform grounds care, including but not limited to, mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, fertilizing, watering, reseeding, applying fungicide, herbicides, insecticides and sterilants, sweeping walk and drives; patching parking lots and drives, preparing signs, snow removal, spreading sand, salt and or ice melt. Operates, maintains powered and non-powered grounds care equipment.

Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Position Description:

Maintenance Technician - page 2 Duties/Responsibilities (continued): Performs custodial tasks, including but not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming, extricating, mopping and polishing floors; washing painting, ceilings, interior, exterior walls and siding, cleans windows and blinds; cleans bathrooms showers and fixtures. ARC relatives will be responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their individual living space. Responsible for restocking toilet paper, paper towels, soap dispensers and trash removal. Operates and maintains all floor equipment. Performs general labor tasks as assigned or as requested. Operates, maintains and troubleshoots hot water boiler, system boilers and all auxiliary systems. Performs maintenance and troubleshoots all building systems, utilizing mechanical carpentry, plumbing, painting, basic electrical, masonry, plaster and sheetrock skills. Performs maintenance and troubleshoots all heating and cooling systems. Participate in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as needed. Performs shift work as needed and all other duties as assigned. Attend and/or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required. Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture Adhere to policies governing staff conduct. Receive, document, prioritize, and complete maintenance requests using an established work order system. Create and maintain accurate work order records, including labor, materials, timelines, and completion status. Communicate work order status and completion updates to program staff and supervisors in a timely manner. Develop standardized work order forms and maintenance documentation as needed. Maintain electronic and/or paper maintenance logs for compliance, audits, and reporting. Assist in developing preventative maintenance schedules and tracking completion
