Job Overview The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and building facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role supports uninterrupted production while complying with company policies, safety standards, and SQF (Safe Quality Food) food safety and quality requirements. Responsibilities Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on production equipment and machinery Perform routine maintenance of building components and mechanical equipment, and update replacement inventory as needed Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation Support installation, modification, or upgrade of equipment as required Assist in identifying and recommending improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency Ensure spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies are available and organized Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area Communicate maintenance issues, downtime, and safety concerns to supervision Use Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) when applicable to ensure safety Make recommendations and determinations of fixing "inhouse" or outsourcing if required. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing and hydraulic systems Conduct inspections and routine maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and implement repairs Respond to work orders daily, according to facility needs, and completing tasks on schedule Skills Proven experience in minor electrical and mechanical systems repair. Strong knowledge of schematics, technical manuals. Ability to operate equipment such as lifts, hand tools, diagnostic devices, and company vehicles safely. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients. Mechanical knowledge combined with construction experience is highly desirable SQF Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities Follow all SQF food safety and quality policies, procedures, and work instructions Promote and support a strong SQF food safety culture Ensure all cleaning and sanitation activities prevent contamination of products, equipment, and facilities Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), hygiene, and sanitation rules Immediately report any food safety, quality, or contamination concerns Participate in SQF training, audits, inspections, and corrective actions Understand how maintenance duties may impact food safety and compliance Safety Responsibilities Follow all company safety policies and procedures Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Handle cleaning chemicals safely and according to instructions Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately Ensure floors, work areas, and walkways are free from hazards Adhere to lockout/tagout, confined space, and equipment safety procedures Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately Ensure maintenance work is performed safely and does not compromise production or personnel Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred Previous maintenance or mechanical/electrical experience in manufacturing environment required Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic and plumbing systems Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and work instructions, including manuals Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills Ability to lift, bend, and work in physically demanding environments Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing and walking Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally Work Environment Manufacturing/printing/packaging environment with exposure to production equipment, materials, and noise May work in wet or chemical-exposed areas Additional Requirements Ability to work independently Willingness to follow company policies, safety rules, and SQF standards
