Job Description

Location:
Jefferson City, MO 65109 (In-person)
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour (Starting pay is $15.00/hr; higher rates considered for advanced skills (HVAC, boiler, plumbing, electrical)
Job Type:
Full-time Position Summary The Housing Authority is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of general, preventative, and semi-skilled manual tasks to maintain the upkeep of our housing properties and grounds. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, general maintenance knowledge, and the ability to interact positively and professionally with our community's residents and guests. Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan (we pay 15% of your salary, no match required, after 6 month's probation is completed, at $16 per hour this is $2.25 per hour.) Tuition reimbursement (must get a B or better if directly related to your position)
Major Duties and Responsibilities Plumbing:
Diagnose and complete minor plumbing repairs, including clearing drains, fixing leaks, and replacing faucets, valves, toilets, and sinks.
Electrical:
Perform basic electrical tasks such as resetting breakers, replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, and fuses.
Appliance Repair:
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on household appliances (stoves, refrigerators, garbage disposals, washers, and dryers).
Carpentry & Turnovers:
Repair windows, doors, frames, locks,
General Maintenance:
Complete routine building repairs via the work order system, utilizing a wide range of hand and power tools safely.
Emergency Response:
Participate in a regular, rotating on-call pager schedule for afterhours maintenance emergencies. Required Knowledge and Abilities Strong understanding of general building maintenance practices, tools, and safety precautions. Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems. Ability to understand and execute written and oral work orders independently. Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with residents, coworkers, and contractors. Flexibility to occasionally work overtime or late hours without prior notice when emergencies arise. Physical Requirements Ability to routinely lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds (e.g., appliances, furniture) utilizing proper equipment like hand trucks. Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch in tight or cramped spaces Ability to work comfortably outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow}. Ability to safely climb ladders and operate power tools. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. One (1} year of previous property maintenance or handyman experience required. Special Requirements Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate company trucks/vans. Ability to meet the criteria for coverage under the Authority's fidelity bond and insurance policy. Must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Such as marijuana, although legal in Missouri, it is not legal as far as the federal government is concerned. Will drug testing before and random testing during employment be an issue if you are hired? This position requires the staff to live within 30 minutes in order to enable prompt response time when they are paged. Will you relocate if necessary?
