Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled part-time Hotel Engineer to ensure the seamless operation and maintenance of our hotel's facilities. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of building systems and equipment to provide a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for guests and staff alike. Your expertise will help uphold the highest standards of facility performance, safety, and guest satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic hospitality setting, ensuring the hotel's infrastructure remains in peak condition. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and building interior components to ensure optimal operation. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities equipment using schematics, hand tools, and specialized testing devices such as ohmmeters. Conduct welding, carpentry, painting (including residential painting), and other repair tasks to maintain the building's interior and exterior appearance. Manage facilities maintenance tasks including HVAC system repair, electrical work, plumbing repairs, and building interior upkeep to ensure safety and compliance. Use programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to monitor and troubleshoot automated building systems for efficiency improvements. Lead or assist with maintenance projects involving schematics interpretation, electrical equipment repair, or mechanical system upgrades. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and inspections conducted to support operational transparency and compliance. Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff or guests while maintaining professionalism at all times. Requirements Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building engineering within a hospitality or commercial environment. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools for repairs such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting. Familiarity with HVAC systems including repair techniques and troubleshooting methods. Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams related to electrical systems and building automation controls. Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automated system management. Electrical experience including electrical equipment repair and maintenance of electrical systems using tools like ohmmeters. Knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repair techniques for residential or commercial settings. Excellent communication skills in English to effectively document work orders and collaborate with team members. Leadership qualities with the ability to guide junior staff or assist in training new team members when needed. Physical capability to perform manual tasks involving lifting, climbing ladders, or working in confined spaces safely.
